Atrium’s Steve Fowler participates in the Three Peaks Challenge for charity
Stephen Fowler, Atrium’s Credit Risk Manager, will be attempting the National Three Peaks Challenge this coming weekend (29/30th August) whereby he, as part of a team of fundraisers, will climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden over a period of 24 hours.
In doing so Steve hopes to raise funds for two charities close to his heart; The Eve Appeal – which funds groundbreaking research into gynaecological cancers and the 17th Gillingham (St. Margaret’s) Scout Pack, where Steve regularly assists, and where his son is pack leader.

Steve’s Story
“My wife's mother, Evelyn Dixon, was a very special lady who loved her husband George, daughters Julie, Nicola, and Sharon and doted on her 5 grandchildren. When she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer she took it on the chin; "other people get cancer so why should I be any different" she would say. She held her own all through her terrible illness, dignified, strong, providing support to her husband and daughters up to her passing.
Unfortunately this disease is hereditary, so my wife of 23 years and her two sisters are in the firing line. Yearly check-ups will help pick up the disease early but more needs to be done to find a cure.
Gynaecological Cancers affects approximately 16,000 women every year in the UK. Most are found in women aged over 50. But the incidence of some of the other gynaecological cancers in younger women has been rising. So I am taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the Eve appeal which specialises in finding a cure.
My challenge is to find 3,407 friends, relatives, work colleagues, strangers on social media to donate (£1 or more) for each metre climbed.
The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland, within 24 hours.
The three mountains are Ben Nevis in Scotland (1344m), Scafell Pike in England (978m) and Snowden in Wales (1085m). I start at 6am on Saturday 29th August with the local scout group 17th Gillingham, our team consists of four walkers and one driver”.
Atrium is proud to support Steve in his attempt and wish him, and his team, the best of luck in this worthy challenge.
